UPS Norcal Contract Negotiations Update for April 14th
UPS Teamsters Sisters and Brothers, The Nor Cal Committee met with the company this week for the third and final round of negotiations prior to the start of National negotiations. The session ended on 4/14/23 with no real movement. The company was given a history lesson on the origin and intent of long-standing language. The company’s committee has nobody on their side of the table with any bargaining history. They respond to our concerns with what they “believe” the language means. We don’t believe what the language means; we know what the language means! The Company continues to sidestep on making any progress on resolving issues that they create. Unresolved issues include but are not limited to, seniority issues, grievance procedure, pay issues, workweeks, ice machines and employee health and safety. Reallocation of funds isn’t going to cut it for a company that posts record profits in the billions each year. The Nor Cal Committee has no patience in the company’s shell game negotiating tactics. “NOT INTERESTED” seems to be the mantra for the company. They are “NOT INTERESTED” in providing accurate seniority lists, “NOT INTERESTED” in providing ice. The company has made it loud and clear they are “NOT INTERESTED” in a contract. In Solidarity, Joseph Cilia, Secretary-Treasurer & Principal Officer

April 29, 2019 – Teamsters National UPS Agreement Takes Effect, Final Supplement Ratified
Agreement Increases Wages, Protects Benefits, Creates New Full-Time Jobs (WASHINGTON) – The five-year contract covering about 250,000 Teamster-represented workers at UPS will take effect at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, April 29, after workers in Michigan ratified the last outstanding supplemental agreement. The national contract will increase wages, protect benefits and create thousands of new full- time jobs. Economic improvements in the contract are retroactive to August 1, 2018. The company has been notified of the ratification and will attempt to implement required raises during the next weekly pay period. “This contract recognizes our members’ hard work by providing solid wage increases, protecting their health coverage, improving their retirement security and giving part-time workers the chance to advance into long-term careers,” said Denis Taylor, Co-Chair of the National Negotiating Committee and Director of the Teamsters Package Division. “We realize this has been a long process, and we appreciate our members’ patience and support.” The UPS contract includes wage increases of $4.15 per hour for both full-time and part-time workers over the term of the contract and increases the part-time start rate by $2.50 retroactively to August 1, 2018. All full-time and part-time UPS Teamsters will continue to receive health insurance for the member and their family without paying premiums. Teamsters Local 2785 Wins $14,000 in Pay for UPS Feeder Drivers
Last month Teamsters Local 2785 won a grievance that secured approximately $14,000 in penalty pay that should have been payed out to UPS drivers for being forced to work on a holiday. The penalty pay situation was a complex contract item which the UPS feeder Driver Stewards picked up on and immediately reported to the Local. After Teamsters Local 2785 business agent Troy Mosqueda worked through two levels of the Grievance Procedure, the case was awarded in favor of the UPS drivers. Thanks to some diligent and smart work from both the Stewards and the Local, the Teamsters achieved one of the cornerstone goals of the Union, working together to protect members wages. Way to go Teamsters!!
